How I perceive myself as oppose to how other perceive me is most
certainly different. Perception is the
act of perceiving and the way in which we understand. We discussed many themes
in class however, I gravitate more towards this specific one because it is more
relatable. In the story "A Streetcar
Named Desire", Blanche was the subject of this particular discussion. She created this fantasy
of a life because she cannot survive reality. Today, social acceptance has become more of a priority. It is very unfortunate to say, but holds true. With technology on the rise, it has become more of a social norm to worry about what is happening on social media. To create this certain persona for the world to see; to create your own reality. Blanche is guilty of this when it comes to what she looks like, to what she wears, her own values and so forth. For the most part, people have a reason to their madness. In blanches case, her horrible past results in the creation on an "alternate reality." When it came to Mitch, the idea to have a potential marriage was her way out. Hearing Blanche's story opened up my eyes more in the sense where I'm guilty of creating this certain persona too. For me, this takes place on social media. Photography is a huge part of my life and I just want the world to see my passion. I put a lot of time and energy into my photos and having people see them and enjoy them is a rewarding feeling. My mentality has become my reality. I know I am not perfect and I know there are people better than me . If one know they're good enough, why should other opinions matter?.... More often than not, you cannot change human nature.
